Where can I get free fonts?

Here is a growing list of websites that provide free fonts that can be used on products for-profit. If you find one, post eMail me the URL or post it in this group and I will add it.

Caution Fonts are their authors' property, and can be freeware, shareware, demo versions or public domain. Not all fonts on "free" font sites are available for commercial usage. Typically, font sites will mention which license the font falls under.

However, this is just an indication. Please look at the readme-files in the archives or check the indicated author's website for details, and contact him if in doubt. If no author/license is indicated that is often indicates the site does not have the information. That does not mean it is free.

If information on the licensing is unavailable, it is best to err on the side of caution and not use the font in question.
